Daniel J. Gottlieb, MD, MPH, is Director, Sleep Disorders Center, VA Boston Healthcare System; Associate Professor of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine; and a member of the Program in Sleep and Cardiovascular Medicine, Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He is a sleep disorders epidemiologist with over 15 years of experience in the epidemiology of the cardiovascular consequences of sleep apnea, having played a major role in the NHLBI-funded Sleep Heart Health Study. He has worked with the Framingham Heart Study for 20 years, where he currently leads the Sleep Phenotypes Working Group of the multi-national Consortium for Health and Aging Research in Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE).He has been a site PI on two NHLBI-funded sleep apnea clinical trials, the Apnea Positive Pressure Long-term Efficacy Study (APPLES) and the Heart Biomarker Evaluation in Apnea Treatment (HeartBEAT) study. Dr. Gottlieb serves on the U.S. Veterans Health Administration Federal Advisory Council for Critical Care, Lung Disease and Sleep Medicine and is co-chair of the VA Sleep Network.
