Impaired sleep efficiency is independently associated with worse prognosis in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). In this multicenter, randomized, parallel group trial, a study was conducted on 63 patients with CHF with central or obstructive sleep apnea. Patients were randomized for auto-servo ventilation (ASV) or optimal medical treatment alone (control group). ASV significantly reduced sleep fragmentation and increased sleep efficiency.
